Two new programmes, launched by Northamptonshire Youth Justice Service and accredited by ASDAN, have 'transformed young people’s life chances'.

Earlier this year we extended our existing arrangements to become an ASDAN Customised Accreditation partner. Customised Accreditation is a bespoke arrangement where ASDAN accredits and certificates a programme written by another organisation.  We have two programmes accredited so far: Going Places: Rights and Responsibilities and Going Places: On the Right Track which will allow us to accredit young people's learning in a way that doesn't stigmatise them.

These awards can be gained through work undertaken as part of a programme with the multi-agency NYOS, for example work delivered by the Interventions Team, an individual Case Manager, Community Reparation, or the Junior Attendance Centre.

The development was the result of carefully co-ordinated and very detailed work by a number of people within NYOS in partnership with ASDAN and we are very proud of what has been achieved.

Mike Hodgson, Head of Service for NYOS, said: “The accreditation of learning through a national awarding body like ASDAN provides an important recognition of the work undertaken by young people on programmes, reinforces their achievements, and assists them in moving away from offending. Customised Accreditation through ASDAN provides added value to our programmes.”
